St. Clair, MI to Oscoda, MI

This was a leisurely day. We left from St. Clair, drove to Port Huron, and started driving North up the East Coast of Michigan so we could enjoy the many views of Lake Huron. As we were driving through the small town of Port Hope, we saw booths and antique displays and decided to stop. It turns out we made it there in time for their annual ABC Festival (i.e., Antiques, Bean soup, and Crafts). While there we collected a few souvenirs and enjoyed their featured bean soup for lunch. It was so good we decided to pick up some more for dinner! Then we continued traveling north along the shores of Lake Huron. We saw lots of pretty scenery and drove through a pretty strong thunderstorm.

We noticed something unusual as we were driving into the town of Caseville, MI. A huge stuffed Flamingo attached to the roof of a pizza restaurant - about 9 feet tall! A little while later we noticed there were smaller stuffed Flamingo's attached to the Caseville street lamps on both sides of the street and we came upon some kind of fair with lots of vendors and booths. We never figured out exactly what the flamingos were about, but our theory is that there must be a lot of misplaced Floridians living in Caseville!

We ended our day at a campground in Oscoda, MI and planned our route for the next day! It will be an early morning with a drive to the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes!
